Kitchener stitch is the bane of the knitter's existence, yet it's great for seamlessly closing holes in hand-knitted fabric. We will conquer this grafting technique by utilizing a fundamental skill: reading your knitting. That way, you'll no longer need to memorize those steps! Just read the stitches and get to work. We will also look at closing a cuff-down sock and the tubular bind off.
Required Materials:
- Two pairs 40" circular knitting needles: US 7 (4.5mm) and US 8 (5.0mm) OR
- One set of US 8 (5.0mm) double pointed needles
- Two 20g balls of scrap yarn in contrasting colors - heavy DK to aran weight (yarn should be a smooth texture in solid color)
- Tapestry needle
Prerequisites: This is an intermediate to advanced level class. Students should be able to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, and knit small circumference in the round.
Ages 16+
