Painting with Intarsia with Diana Ricketts

Once you get past managing the bobbins, intarsia colorwork can provide creative freedom while minimizing yarn usage. It’s perfect for scrap-busting! From sketch to swatch, students will create their own intarsia design using a freestyle approach, so we can play with color.

Those new to intarsia and colorwork in general are welcome. This workshop will also cover intarsia basics and yarn management strategies.

Materials Required: 

• worsted weight yarn in 3 contrasting colors (recommend at least 20g
  each of 100% wool)
• knitting needles - recommend US Size 7-9
• source images for sketching

Materials Provided:

• pencils and highlighters
• handouts to guide sketching

Prerequisites: Students must be able to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind off.
